Darkest London Series by Kristen Callihan

Paranormal romance lovers (you know who you are), you have probably run through Laurell K. Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lynsay Sands, the works…And you may even be wondering if the genre has much else to squeeze out. Kristen Callihan has written a new series, The Darkest London series, which will be a pleasant surprise. Especially if you are a lover of all things British-this series is set in London (obviously) during the Victorian era. But the London in Callihan’s series is a London ripe with paranormal beings who lurk in the shadows and hide from polite society.

The first novel in the series, Firelight, is about a young woman who marries a Lord by arrangement to settle her father’s debts…A lord who wears a mask and has a mysterious past. Can Miranda learn to love this stranger? Will she learn his secrets? Someone is murdering gentlemen in the night streets of London-is Lord Archer, her new husband, involved somehow?

The second novel in the series, Moonglow, is about a young widow who is being pursued by something dark and evil-something murderous. Women who wear her perfume are dropping dead all over the city, and a sexy nobleman has decided to help keep her safe until the demon is captured…But will Daisy be safe from him?

There are more novels to come in this series, which many readers will find addicting. If you liked Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series, you will NOT want to miss the Darkest London series by Kristen Callihan. Hachette Audio has come out with Firelight and Moonglow on Audio, as well, and those of you who enjoy listening to your paranormal romance should pick them up today-and they are steamy, so if you are prude, be warned!

Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost

Paranormal Romance lovers, your prayers have been answered.

Leila is a circus performer with a few special gifts. She is a psychic who can see your worst sin upon physical contact, and she can channel electicity, even to the extent that she can kill with her power. She has lived in relative anonymity, traveling with the circus, where any strange events can be passed off as showmanship and eccentricity.  Her best friend, Marty, is a vampire, and he has been helping to keep her gifts a secret for many years. But one day, Leila meets a couple, and when she brushes against one of them, she realizes that the husband has learned that she is having an affair and intends to murder her and dispose of her body in the wilderness. The crime is prevented, but suddenly she is famous…And this is dangerous for her, especially in vampire communities, where a psychic’s gifts could be put to use helping them to find, and kill, enemies.

In very little time, Leila has been kidnapped by vampires who want to kill the alpha vampire of all vampires, Vlad Tepesh (yes, Vlad the Impaler). She attempts to find him and finds herself talking to him in her thoughts. They have a psychic connection and he agrees to rescue her from her kidnappers…But there’s a catch. She will now be taken into custody by Vlad and his entourage until his enemies have been smoked out and destroyed..For her own safety, of course. So Leila finds herself sleeping in a castle in Romania, surrounded by vampires, and against her own better judgment, finding Vlad the Impaler to be sortof, well, SEXY. She is also finding that he can help her harness her powers and use them as a brutal weapon against enemies.

Before she knows it, Leila has become kindof a badass. And she has revenge in mind against the vampire who wants her for himself. So the hunt begins…

Once Burned is one of the more violent paranormal romance novels I have read, more like Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake books, or Anne Rice’s darker take than Twilight or other more cozy vampire novels. If you don’t like sheer violence, you may be put-out by some of the more gorey details…It’s also very sexy. This novel is the first in Jeaniene Frost’s Night Prince Series. Fanatics, don’t miss this one!

A Blood Seduction by Pamela Palmer

Paranormal romance lovers won’t want to miss this new novel in Pamela Palmer’s new “Vamp City” series, “A Blood Seduction”. Quinn Lennox is a research technician who has always been just a little different. She sees things that no one else sees, her clothes seem to change colors when she drives through rainbow-like beams throughout the city, and she is beginning to thing she is losing her mind.

When Quinn and her brother Zack go looking for a friend who has disappeared, and end up wandering into some kind of alternate universe that looks a lot like Washington DC, things start to get even more insane. The city is populated by VAMPIRES, and Quinn and Zack are on the dinner menu. They are attacked, and when Quinn wakes up, she is in someone else’s home, tied to a bed, and her brother is nowhere to be found. A sexy, dominant vampire named Arturo has decided to make her his bed slave, and despite the fact that he is very enticing, she has one thing on her mind: escaping to find and rescue her brother, wherever he is.

There is more to Quinn than even she realizes, however, because the vampires seem to know something that she doesn’t. They inform her that she is a sorceress and she will be forced to help them save Vamp City from destruction or be tortured to within an inch of her life until she complies. Arturo tries to keep the bad vampires away from her, but when everyone wants a taste of the sorceress, Quinn has very little time to do much besides trying to stay alive…And fight off Arturo’s wandering hands and intoxicating kisses.

Will Quinn find and save her brother? Will she escape Vamp City? Will she finally give in to Arturo’s cajoling? Find out for yourself when you pick up A Blood Seduction in stores today! Readers who love Laurell K Hamilton and Kim Harrison won’t want to miss Pamela Palmer!
